Nick's Story

Nick Dempsey’s life changed in 2017 when a diving accident resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving him a quadriplegic.

Since then, Nick has continued to push boundaries, build independence, and use his experience to make a positive impact within the community

Now based on the Gold Coast, he is an accomplished public speaker, a PBF Australia speaker, an ambassador for the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation and the host of Chats From A Chair Podcast, where he shares honest conversations around disability, resilience and life after injury.Nick has also become a registered marriage celebrant, continuing to challenge perceptions of what life with a disability can look like.

Now equipped with his Quantum power chair (Quantum Edge 3) and joining Quantum as an ambassador, Nick is ready for his next chapter, sharing his experiences, adventures and the ways his chair supports greater independence and freedom in everyday life.

Cam Irwin, better known to his friends as “Stocky”, grew up at Clifton Beach in Tasmania. In 2007, while on a working holiday in Margaret River, Cam was involved in an accident that resulted in a C7 incomplete spinal cord injury.

He regained most of his hand function but remains paralysed from the chest down with limited sensation in his lower limbs.

It's given me access to the beach again...I'm now able to go off road and explore palces i haven't been to in nearly 20 years

For around five years, Cam used a Quantum Edge 3 to get out and about, explore his local area and maintain his independence. He has since upgraded to the new Quantum Edge 4, continuing to support his everyday mobility, alongside the Quantum Outback 4x4 for his more adventurous outings.

With the Outback 4x4, Cam has taken on soft sand, rocky sections, bumpy roads and local tracks, returning to places around home he hasn’t been able to access for years. Now, with both the Edge 4 and Outback 4x4, Cam is excited to keep exploring what’s possible. Through his Get Amongst It with Stocky series, he shares his adventures, puts the chairs through their paces and encourages others to get out there and get amongst it.

Luke's Story

For Luke Ogden, the reality of living with Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T)—a progressive genetic condition—hit home during a Pearl Jam concert in 2011. Surrounded by friends, his legs gave out. Following a subsequent overseas trip marked by exhausting, risky mobility hurdles, medical professionals confirmed what Luke internally knew: it was time for a wheelchair.

He didn’t just want to get around; he wanted his full independence back

Overcoming the Horizon

Stepping into the power chair community brings unique anxieties. Luke initially worried about navigating cracked footpaths, thick grass, and rough terrain. However, his most unexpected challenge was social: losing the ability to communicate at eye level.

Advanced power positioning changed everything. Evolving tech allowed Luke to look people in the face again, instantly restoring his confidence and social connection. Then came the ultimate lifestyle catalyst: the arrival of 4x4 all-terrain technology, hitting the market just when Luke needed it most.

Exploring the Secret Levels

"Getting my 4x4 power chair felt like unlocking a new level in the game of life," Luke says. "Suddenly, I was determined to find all the secret levels."

For Luke, that meant refusing to let A-T dictate his boundaries. Driven by the rugged capability of the Quantum Outback 4x4, he transformed his daily routine into an adventure. Today, his chair is not a symbol of restriction—it is his ultimate vehicle for an active lifestyle.

Luke uses his power chair to conquer heavy-duty activities that many assume are out of reach for wheelchair users:

  • Rugged Outdoors: Conquering sand at the beach, tackling bush hikes, camping off-grid
  • Daily Grit: Engaging in active farming, woodworking, and "wood
    hooking" (dragging heavy logs).
  • Freedom & Travel: Navigating public transport, attending music festivals, and boarding interstate and international flights.
