In 2017, Nick Dempsey’s life changed in an instant.

A diving accident resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving Nick a quadriplegic. The years since have brought significant change, but they have also seen Nick continue to build his independence, pursue new opportunities and use his experiences to make a positive impact within the community.

Now based on the Gold Coast, Nick wears many hats.

He is an accomplished public speaker and a speaker with PBF Australia, using his own experience to educate others about spinal cord injury and injury prevention. He is also an ambassador for the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation, supporting its work towards finding a cure for paralysis.

Nick is also the host of Chats From A Chair Podcast, where he brings honest conversations about disability, resilience and life after injury to a wider audience.

And if that wasn’t enough, Nick has also become a registered marriage celebrant, proving that life after a spinal cord injury can take you in plenty of unexpected directions.

Joining the Quantum Community

Nick is now entering another chapter as a Quantum Rehab Australia ambassador.

Equipped with his Quantum Edge 3 power chair, Nick is continuing to get out, work, connect with his community and pursue the things that are important to him.

For Nick, his power chair is more than a way to get from A to B. It supports his independence and gives him greater freedom to navigate everyday life, work and new experiences on his own terms.

As a Quantum ambassador, Nick will be sharing more of these experiences with us, from everyday life with his Edge 3 to accessibility reviews, adventures and the realities of navigating the world as a power chair user.

We’re excited to have Nick as part of the Quantum community and look forward to sharing more of his story.
